Sensor solutions for land vehicles
Reconnaissance Vehicle with connections

The challenge

To complete their missions effectively and safely, your crews need relevant information at their fingertips at all times. With the increasing addition of sensors to land vehicles, the multiple systems they employ – such as radar, optronics or electronic warfare – generate vast amounts of data for analysis and monitoring.

While potentially vital, so much data can also lead to information overload and pose an insurmountable challenge for land forces, overwhelming them.

You need to minimise the time it takes to make decisions on the battlefield through the use of automated information assistance.

Our solution

The solution to the problem of the overwhelming volume of data generated by multiple sensor systems on land vehicles, which can lead to information overload and complicate decision-making, is HENSOLDT Ceretron.

This sensor suite combines sensors and fuses their data streams, evaluating and processing them in seconds to provide the crew with an AI-supported operational picture, thus enabling them to make smarter decisions in an even shorter amount of time.

Ceretron can be flexibly configured for multiple applications including observation and targeting, situational awareness, reconnaissance and surveillance, platform and force protection, and electronic support and attack.

The solutions can be tailored to your vehicle fleet; Ceretron is platform-independent and can be installed on any land forces vehicle.
Applications range from heavy, medium and light combat to reconnaissance missions.

CERETRON’s unique strength lies in the element of reconnaissance. From that origin, it enriches all aspects of the armed forces capability spectrum in command – reconnaissance – (joint) fires and support. This results in requirements-driven, aggregated information superiority.
In the years ahead we will develop an assistance system to create the potential for a fully automated chain of action.

Features and benefits

Features

  • This suite pre-integrates sensors, whether from the HENSOLDT portfolio or third-party systems, and converts their data into mission-relevant information
  • Disparate data streams fuse to create a smart, single image for use by forces in theatre and mission control
  • Image processing and machine-learning algorithms detect, classify and localise the operator’s sensor fields of view
  • Fusing sensor data hardens the information obtained while significantly lowering the risk of false alarms

Benefits

  • Far greater situational awareness than ever before
  • A process that now takes minutes can be shortened to milliseconds
  • The things one operator sees are now instantly available to everyone
  • Information superiority and user support through decentralised artificial intelligence; automatically reducing operator workload and supporting effective, highly efficient reconnaissance, target acquisition and transfer of target data across the battlefield
  • Surpasses human capability in myriad ways including seeing through armour, observing across spectra (infrared in particular) and simultaneously looking in multiple directions
  • CERETRON by HENSOLDT offers guidance systems, effectiveness and support, which it enriches and intermeshes through its unique added focus on the element of reconnaissance. This results in requirements-driven, aggregated information superiority

Configuration

To meet your mission needs, Ceretron can be flexibly configured. It can network a wide variety of heterogeneous sensors, stemming either from the vast HENSOLDT portfolio or from third-party systems.

  • Augmented reality for the gunner and commander
  • Self-protection integration including cross-platform instant alarms
  • Assisted target identification based on multi-sensor data fusion and object detection
  • Mesh networks empowering a shared information superiority for solid decisions

Medium Combat (Focus platform: Infantry fighting vehicles)

  • Enhanced situational awareness in challenging environments via persistent 360° VIS/IR, including high vertical FoV for urban operations
  • Integration of vision systems with self-protection for own platform and allied platforms
  • Assisted target identification based on multi-sensor data fusion
  • Mesh networks empowering a shared information superiority
  • Integration with C-UAS functionality, e.g. short-range MIMO radar

Light Combat (Focus platform: Armoured personnel carriers)

  • Efficient 360° situational awareness functionality for crew
  • Assisted object recognition combined with mesh-network-shared information to drive knowledge-based decisions
  • Optional RWS targeting integration

Recce (Focus platform: Reconnaissance vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles)

  • Persistent observation for the full electro-magnetic spectrum (VIS, IR, UV, radio, radar and acoustic)
  • Assisted object recognition to support interactive information generation and target sharing
  • Long Range performance incl. unattended sensing
  • Offline (RAW-)data collection limited to relevant content
  • On-request push-synchronization or optional instant data-sync within a mesh network connected to BMS
