On-the-move observation and target detection by day and night
The challenge
The conditions presented in combat environments are often hostile and all-encompassing. In classic conflict scenarios such as tank battles, but also in asymmetric or hybrid scenarios such as those encountered in Ukraine, quick visibility and decision-making are mission-critical.
Settings like these will likely involve platforms such as the Leopard 2 Main Battle Tank (MBT) and Infantry Fighting Vehicles.
This challenge calls for a high-performance periscope offering the best and earliest possible detection, not only of enemy battle tanks but of enemy platforms generally.
If there is a sudden attack from an unknown direction, a Leopard 2 commander equipped with a HENSOLDT PERI R17 A3 can quickly pinpoint the aggressors’ location and respond accordingly.
These missions require periscopes that will perform in dire weather conditions and darkness and can cut through any dust and haze.

The PERI R17 A3 is a stabilised, panoramic commander sight tailored and dedicated to the operational needs of Leopard 2 MBT versions. It combines field-tested and combat-proven day observation and advanced night-vision technology – with long-range capabilities.

The PERI R17 A3 is qualified for use by the German Armed Forces and is in service with LEOBEN users.
