BAA II

Observation and reconnaissance platform
BAA II FFG

The challenge

Your recon troops need to inspect terrain and gather information deep in potentially hostile territory. This requires reliable, mission-approved, and combat-proven Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities.

The solution should be modular and expandable. It should offer a series of high-performance sensors along with capability for integration into an existing information and command system. The solution should feature automatic motion detection to support users during longer missions, as well as image fusion combining data from the included thermal imager and a high-resolution day-vision camera to create a fused image.

Our solution

The BAA II surveillance and reconnaissance platform is the next-generation, mission-approved platform for use in connection with observation and reconnaissance systems of recon troops.

The BAA II includes a sensor head that can be deployed either mounted to a vehicle or detached from a vehicle and deployed remotely, in a stationary setting, e.g. mounted on a tripod. Its effectiveness has been proven in battlefield conditions by German Joint Fire Support Teams, marking an evolutionary advance in mission-proven systems for reconnaissance, observation, and target acquisition.

The sensor head combines up to four high-performance sensors – a third-generation thermal imager, a high-resolution day-vision camera and a laser rangefinder. Optionally, it features a laser pointer and a laser illuminator.
