Protection from laser-guided missiles

Laser threats, such as laser rangefinders and laser guidance systems, are widespread. Only laser warning devices can alert threatened ships and trigger appropriate countermeasures. We offer ESM systems that detect laser range finders, laser target designators and laser beam riders with an excellent efficiency in all bearings.

The systems provide ships with the ability to detect, intercept, identify and locate threats, giving them the self-protection they need.

Electronic self-protection

Military airborne, shipborne and ground-based radars are designed to operate in a cluttered environment. Modern radars, such as pulsed Doppler radar, have a fixed phase relationship between the transmitted and received RF signals because they operate on the basis of coherent processing.

Digital Radio Frequency Memories (DRFM) have become the core of any electronic jamming system. The DRFM stores radar signals, modulates them with jamming signals and then retransmits them to the threat, thus protecting ships from radar-based threats.

Active shaft grounding system

When a vessel travels at sea, it generates an electromotive force due to the use of materials with different electrochemical properties. This creates an electric current that damages the bearings of ships and submarines.

HENSOLDT’s active shaft grounding system protects these bearings by reducing corrosion. It also significantly improves the electromagnetic discretion of ships.

Discretion is one of the most important characteristics of a military vessel. HENSOLDT’s degaussing solutions are designed to make ships and submarines invisible to magnetic field sensors in mines and patrol aircraft.
