Manta NEO VDR
Voyage data recorderThe challenge
Whenever an event or incident occurs during a maritime voyage, it is crucial to have voyage data available after the fact, not only to address liability issues but also to help prevent such incidents in the future.
Mobile internet at sea enables shipowners and other stakeholders to monitor any developments on board and in the vicinity of commercial shipping vessels not only after the fact, but also as they happen. Records of interest include radar and ECDIS information as well as navigational data. The software used must be able to record and replay sequences of events in real time.
This functionality is generally comparable to that of a ‘black box’ on an aircraft.
Our solution
Data is needed to document, assign liability and prevent future occurrences of the events and incidents that ships at sea sometimes experience.
Investigators, shipowners and other stakeholders can use Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs) to review procedures and steps taken in the moments leading up to an incident, helping to determine the cause.
With this in mind, the next generation Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) combines an updated real-time data display, increased storage capacity and playback software functionality.
The results is extremely reliable performance for a superior user experience that exceeds current regulatory requirements.
