Kelvin Hughes Mk11 Sharpeye

Combined navigation & naval surveillance radar

The challenge

Radar capability is an essential part of the mission for naval, law enforcement and special operations vessels.

The radar used must be able to operate reliably in less than ideal weather, lighting and visibility. It must assist with navigation and surface searches as well as helicopter control and recovery, while providing an interface to camera systems and bi-directional links to any combat management systems in use.

And, of course, the radar must support marine navigation, collision avoidance, target surveillance and situational awareness.

Our solution

Mk11 SharpEye radar technology meets the challenges of navies, coastguards and border control agencies in all conditions and provides the flexibility to be optimised for specific detection needs.

Its export-controlled technology can detect small targets even in low visibility and choppy seas. The Mk11 features the Kelvin Hughes maintenance-free, state-of-the-art, solid-state SharpEye transceiver, with a solid-state pulse Doppler coherent radar system that meets the requirements of modern warships.

Ideally suited to the Offshore Patrol Vessels market, its combined turning unit solution meets key detection requirements and directly addresses the typical OPV constraints of space, weight and budget.

The Mk11 SharpEye is available in X-band and S-band variants and is the chosen radar of more than 30 navies worldwide.
