Air monitoring and surveillanceThe challenge
The Central Database for Military Flight Operations (ZDmF) serves as a data management and information system for monitoring, controlling and checking the flight operations of the Bundeswehr at home and abroad, as well as those of NATO partners and friendly armed forces in the airspace of Germany. This makes it unique in Europe.
The mission of the ZDmF is the comprehensive monitoring of military flight operations, including (special) control zones, as part of the supervision of Bundeswehr flight operations (Section 30 of the German Aviation Act (LuftVG)). All flight movements over Germany are permanently recorded and stored in the database. By combining data from a large number of heterogeneous data sources, it serves as a powerful evaluation system for military flight movements.
Our solution
A network of civil and military radar sensors, which cover the entire federal territory with their detection ranges, provides the necessary data. The ZDmF / Central Flight Monitoring (ZFÜ) also provides the data basis for the central point of contact for the German Military Aviation Authority (LufABw) for parliamentary inquiries, requests for administrative assistance from other departments and public relations work.
Since June 2024, in addition to supporting the ZDmF, the aim has been to further develop the system around HENSOLDT´s own product AMoS – with a focus on mobile applications; scalable, high-performance architecture; 3D display and big data / BI. AMoS also enables the observation and monitoring of airspace on the basis of radar data. The data is displayed live or as a replay with powerful GIS components on the Earth's surface in 2D/3D with time reference.
