Due to its complexity, the configuration management of naval units presents a multitude of challenges.
Ensuring compatibility and interoperability among various systems and equipment is crucial in order to maintain operational readiness. Coordinating updates and modifications across different platforms and locations can be complex and time-consuming. Additionally, managing configuration changes while adhering to strict security protocols and regulatory requirements adds another layer of difficulty.
Tracking and documenting configurations accurately to support maintenance, repairs and upgrades is essential for optimising naval unit performance.
Our solution
Based on navy configuration management, the KMnow software was customised with the German Armed Forces to meet the requirements of the German Navy. We use state-of-the-art technology to support the configuration management processes in the development and usage phase.
KMnow enables the management of naval units’ configurations, including the installed weapons, sensors and mission systems, using their respective software. The different obligations of the units lead to different requirements for the composition of the individual components.
KMnow achieves the resulting increase in effort required when managing different configurations of different units with a user-friendly interface that makes this complexity manageable.
