Twinvis
Passive radar surveillance of noiseless objectsThe challenge
Modern surveillance and situational awareness call for a silent, passive radar to monitor noiseless objects.
Commanders, crews and platforms benefit if their radar cannot be located, transmits no radar signals and requires no emissions from targets to track them.
Twinvis uses electromagnetic signals from analogue and digital radio as well as television to survey its surroundings.
Sufficient transmitter-of-opportunity coverage can be found all over the world.
Twinvis provides omnidirectional 3D tracking of air targets in real time. It can track highly agile targets yet is invisible to hostile ECM systems; it affords perfect placement for covert, non-cooperative surveillance tasks.
Twinvis adapts to a variety of operational scenarios, with state-of-the-art performance within Europe and overseas.
Our solution
HENSOLDT´s passive radar Twinvis leverages existing VHF and UHF signals from analogue and digital radio, as well as television. As it has no own emissions, it is silent. Absence of active transmitters makes it invisible to radar search and it is jammer-resistant. Features include gap filler/sensitive spot coverage and near-range, high-precision slow and low target tracking.
It can be used for air surveillance in urban and difficult environments (with no electromagnetic pollution), and to track highly agile objects. It features weather-independent surveillance and multi-angle detection of targets with reduced radar cross-sections.
Twinvis can be operated remotely and in stand-alone mode; it can cluster up to 5 sensors for extended coverage and accuracy. HENSOLDT Twinvis also supports various levels of data fusion.
