Pilots need support in navigating safely and efficiently through the airspace, taking into consideration a variety of critical parameters such as airspace boundaries, terrain features, obstacles, and navigation aids.
This information is essential for pilots to plan and execute their flight paths, avoid potential hazards, and comply with airspace regulations.
Thus, dedicated avionic maps are an essential tool for pilots to ensure safe and efficient navigation through the airspace.
Our solution
HENSOLDT´s map concept provides seamless and homogeneous worlwide coverage. It is characterized by modern design, latest data and improved readability of vector maps. We offer highly detailed coverage from 1:50.000 to 1:1.000.000 and guarantee continuous updates of the maps.
Our systems can process various map formats such as vector and raster maps, satellite pictures and aerial photographs. Commercially available databases (e.g. obstacle databases, POIs) or customer own databases may be integrated.
HENSOLDT offers three different map packages, which are based on each other. The level of detail and number of maps increases within the packages:
Global package:
- Raster map data: Outline map (basic detail), scale 1:1.000.000
- Vector map data: Overview map (basic detail)
- Terrain data: DTED 0
- Database: Jeppesen NavData (initial load)
Continental package (incl. global package + following content):
- Raster map data (global design): Scales 1:500.000 and 1:250.000
- Vector map data: Overview map (mid detail)
- Terrain data: SRTM 3
- Database: Jeppesen NavData; Jeppesen Obstacle DB (one-time update!)
Country package (incl. global package, continental package + following content):
- Raster map data (country specific design): Scales 1:500.000, 1:250.000, 1:100.000 & 1:50.000
- Vector map data: Network map (high detail), street level map
- Terrain data: SRTM 1
- Database: Jeppesen NavData; Jeppesen Obstacle DB (one-time update!)
