Paris, France / Enfield, UK 4th May 2023 –As part of the modernisation of the Indonesian Navy’s Minehunters (Pulau Rengat class), HENSOLDT Nexeya France has been awarded a multi-million Euro contract from the Indonesian shipyard integrator NOAHTU. It covers the integration of the LYNCEA Combat Management System (CMS) and the installation of new sensors and equipment, including HENSOLDT UK’s Integrated Navigation Bridge System (INBS).

The LYNCEA CMS solution for increasing the Minehunters’ efficiency

While the geopolitical environment in the South China Sea is tense, it is crucial for Indonesia to have optimal mine warfare capability. The country has been using two Tripartite Class vessels, Pulau Rengat and Pulau Rupat, for minehunting, minesweeping, and maritime surveillance missions since 1987.

In order to modernise the Indonesian Navy's fleet and equip its two minehunters with the latest technologies in terms of underwater detection and intervention as well as maritime monitoring, the LYNCEA solution will provide the ship’s crews with a complete capability to inspect, detect and neutralise mines in underwater areas through the integration of sensors and AUV systems as well as the analysis and processing of these data.

A complete system integration, from multi-sensor CMS to INBS navigation

The comprehensive "retrofit" solution for the two ships will include the LYNCEA CMS and the installation of the INBS. The INBS will be connected to the CMS through a new integrated tactical interface module. This new interface developed in partnership between HENSOLDT's British and French entities will enable the CMS and INBS to exchange and merge navigation and mission information in real time, providing an operational and tactical advantage to the vessels. HENSOLDT Nexeya France will be in charge of ship integration, validation (HAT) and sea trials (SAT) of the multi-console CMS connected to the navigation equipment and to all the sensors. These include SharpEye MK11 and MK7 radars, LTR 400 IFF transponder and Tactical Data Link, as well as sonar and unmanned underwater vehicles dedicated to mine hunting.

A Mission Systems expertise well known in South-East Asia

This contract follows the successful collaboration between HENSOLDT Nexeya France and the Indonesian Forces since 2017 with the delivery, integration, and deployment of the ARGOSIA Airborne Mission System on several aircraft for maritime surveillance.

With this new project, HENSOLDT reinforces the development of its activities in Southeast Asia and positions itself as a leading supplier of mission systems (MMS) and CMS for maritime and coastal surveillance.

“This new contract shows the Indonesian Forces’ and Indonesian platform industry’s renewed confidence in HENSOLDT and we are proud of it. The modernisation of the two Minehunters is a very important contract for HENSOLDT and is expected to be completed in 2025 for both vessels. I am sure that this contract will pave the way for future collaboration,” said Philippe Guibourg, President of HENSOLDT France and Head of Defence activities of HENSOLDT Nexeya France.
