Taufkirchen/Germany, 4 March 2021 – The sensor specialist HENSOLDT is calling on the federal and state governments to also use the occupational health services of companies to accelerate Corona vaccinations. In particular, the company is addressing the health authorities of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg with the demand to pass on currently unused vaccine to companies in order to make better use of existing capacities and thus make faster progress in the fight against Corona.
HENSOLDT CEO Thomas Müller said: "The vaccinations could move faster! It would be unreasonable to let the expertise and technical facilities of company medical services lie idle. HENSOLDT supports the fight against the pandemic with all available means and is ready to start vaccinations tomorrow!" And Chief Human Resources Officer Peter Fieser adds: "We are proud to contribute to the fight against the pandemic with the means at our disposal. For example, we have been using rapid tests for some time and have now ordered a large number of self-tests to further improve protection for our workforce against the coronavirus."
The company is already releasing the company doctor at its Ulm site, Dr Lorenz Raming, to work at the Central Vaccination Centre Baden-Württemberg (ZIZ). Dr. Raming works one and a half days a week at the ZIZ in addition to his duties at HENSOLDT.
HENSOLDT has also provided special capabilities from its production to manufacture protective shields, which have been donated to the German Armed Forces Hospital and the University Hospital in Ulm and used to protect staff in vulnerable areas. The company has also purchased special ultra-low temperature freezers suitable for the proper storage of vaccine.
