Ulm/Germany, 13.11.2024 – For the 21st time, the sensor specialist HENSOLDT has awarded the ‘Argus’ research prize for outstanding student performance. At the annual Professor's Day, students and professors from technical universities and colleges and experts from the company came together at the Ulm site to exchange ideas on innovative approaches and future-oriented technologies and to present the ‘Argus Prize’.

A jury of university professors and company experts selected the best 23 theses from all applicants throughout Germany and honoured them. Thirteen master's theses and ten bachelor's theses were awarded prizes at this year's Professor's Day. Fabian Michael Hochberg, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, received the award for the best master's thesis. He carried out theoretical and experimental investigations on a radar system to display space objects interferometrically. Friedrich Pyttel, TU Darmstadt, won the award for the best bachelor's thesis. He dealt with the energy-efficient optimisation of communication under the influence of transmission errors through so-called ‘belief learning’.

“Cooperation with research institutions and universities provides the company with new insights in the specialist areas and is important for the further development of the technology group's product portfolio,” said Dr. Guy Kouemou, Technology Director of HENSOLDT. “The long history of the Professor Day and the Argus Prize shows that we can only meet the challenges of the future by working closely with institutes, universities and colleges.’”

The winners each received €2,000. All second-place finishers were awarded €1,500 and the third-place finishers €1,000. Since last year, the fourth-place finishers have also been honoured with €250.

The event promotes HENSOLDT's partnerships with leading research institutes, universities and colleges and creates a platform for cross-generational collaboration, where new ideas can be developed and the exchange of knowledge between experienced experts and emerging talent can be intensified.
