The business line Optronics has been working hard for three years to optimise its logistics and supply chain management. Various innovative concepts have been introduced in recent years such as digital order picking in the warehouse, making pre-picked sets of parts for the provisioning of material, supermarket and Kanban systems within the operational process chain, or even the digital analyses of areas and material flows when optimising the layout and the processes. That means very concrete approaches to saving costs, space and time.
“The feedback from Prof Morlock and his students was extremely positive. For the students it was very interesting to see the various theories and methods from their lectures actually put into practice. At our site, we are able to cover the entire operational process chain, from the procurement of material, via the logistics and production, through to the delivery to our customers,” said Mayer.
In the future the contact and the network to the Aalen University of Applied Sciences shall be extended further. For example, HENSOLDT will join the society for the promotion of the university, will offer internships and diploma thesis projects and will hold guest lectures. It is quite clear that interaction between theory and practice is helpful and instructive for both sides.
