Munich/Berlin, 20 April 2018 – HENSOLDT, the sensor solutions provider which was spun off from the Airbus Group exactly one year ago, will present its wide range of sensor technologies at this year’s International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) in Berlin. For the first time, HENSOLDT will present its newly developed passive radar system in an enhanced, military version, capable of being used in all types of terrain, as well as the extended portfolio of its Xpeller counter-UAV systems with the new, mobile “Xpeller Rapid” variant. You can obtain further information at the HENSOLDT stand no. 201 in front of and in Hall 3.
“We are interconnecting all essential sensor technologies to provide our customers with information superiority at any time,” said HENSOLDT CEO Thomas Müller. “We thus create the basis for decisions of political leaders and military commanders, while also contributing to the success of a mission and protecting soldiers in operations.”
HENSOLDT will be showing its passive radar in live operation in the outdoor area in front of Hall 3, integrated into an all-terrain vehicle and a van, to analyse the echoes of signals from radio or TV stations so as to create a recognised air picture (RAP) within a radius of more than 200 kilometres in real time. Another exhibit to be seen in the outdoor area is the Xpeller counter-UAV system, whose mission is to detect small drones so as to protect critical infrastructure, large events or military facilities. In its mobile and compact “Xpeller Rapid” version, which will be presented to the public for the first time, the system will be integrated into an all-terrain vehicle for transport and deployment within an extremely short period of time.
In addition, HENSOLDT will also present its ARGOS-II HD A1 multi-sensor system to be used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions from the air. It can be equipped with high resolution HD infrared and daylight cameras as well as with laser rangefinders and laser designators. Another system on display will be the Goshawk II HD reconnaissance system, which can also be equipped with daylight cameras, thermal imagers and laser rangefinders and can be integrated into UAVs and light aircraft.
The MILDS F self-protection sensor, an optimised version of the MILDS (Missile Launch Detection System) sensor for helicopters and wide-body aircraft, which has been successful around the world, serves to protect combat aircraft from being hit by a missile. MILDS F is deployed on board F-16 air force fighters from Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands. Another HENSOLDT product to be shown at ILA is the SFERION helicopter simulator, which is used to simulate the functionality of the Sferion pilot assistance system during helicopter missions in a degraded vision environment.
