Oberkochen/Aalen, 25 Mai 2020 – "Corona affects us all," says Thilo Fronz, HR manager at HENSOLDT Optronics in Oberkochen. "We want to provide fast and unbureaucratic support where our help directly arrives. The sensor company is donating ten laptops to the charitable Ostalb Diakonieverband for use in the home schooling of children.
The idea came from a staff member: Christine Hübener suggested using decommissioned laptops to help families with one or more school children during the crisis to cope with schoolwork at home. The laptops were brought up to date by the in-house IT department and equipped with Windows.
Sylvia Caspari, Managing Director of the Ostalb Diakonieverband explains the need: "Families with low incomes are having a particularly hard time in the current situation, especially when they have several school children who had to switch to home-schooling from one day to the next". At home there is often a lack of technical equipment and the necessary financial means. Especially when several school children have to share a mobile phone for homework, this is a challenge for the whole family.
"With the donation we can support single mothers, low-income families and families on short-time work quickly and unbureaucratically," says Caspari.
