HENSOLDT at IMDEX: Showcasing Its Wide Range of Innovative, Sensor Technologies

HENSOLDT builds upon a legacy of more than 40 years in Singapore, with the foundation laid by its subsidiary Kelvin Hughes. The company is set to participate at IMDEX, Asia Pacific’s premiere international maritime defence exhibition.

Among HENSOLDT’s exhibits at IMDEX is the TRS-4D naval radar. It is already in use on board the German Navy’s new F125 frigate, in a configuration comprising four fixed planar arrays.

Singapore,13 May 2019 – “Modernisation efforts of naval capabilities will become increasingly crucial with the challenging environment of the Indo-Pacific”, says Nathan Manzi, head of Asia-Pacific at HENSOLDT. “As a specialist in defence electronics, we have a strong reference in this area with more than 3000 periscopes delivered to 20 prominent naval forces and more than 1000 radars installed with over 30 customer navies.” In fact, HENSOLDT builds upon a legacy of more than 40 years in Singapore, with the foundation laid by its subsidiary Kelvin Hughes. The company is set to participate at IMDEX, Asia Pacific’s premiere international maritime Defence exhibition.

The peak in submarine sensor technology is represented by HENSOLDT’s unique twin optronic mast solution, combining the OMS 150 and OMS 200 periscopes. Bringing together the latest optronics sensor technologies such as low light level TV camera, high-definition mid-wave infrared and short-wave infrared, this product enables new submarine capabilities in all light and weather conditions.

HENSOLDT’s TRS-4D naval radar is designed to support anti-air and anti-surface operations. It is available with one rotating antenna or four fixed antenna panels, respectively. The radar’s AESA technology delivers increased sensitivity to detect smaller and maneuvering targets with greater accuracy, as well as faster track generation to give naval vessels more time to react to hostile threats.

Another part of HENSOLDT’s display is dedicated to protection systems enhancing the survivability of naval vessels. Early warning against laser threats such as laser beam riding missiles, laser target designators and range finders provides the COLDS NGB warning system while secondary radar, transponders and encryption devices ensure reliable identification-friend-or-foe (IFF).
